- What should a person consider when making choices?
- Should a person be guided by moral law or civil law?
This is the second 30 hours of a 60 hour class. There are 12 tasks assigned. Each task has an estimated amount of time assigned to it. Some will take less time to complete a task and some may need more; however, if you are going over the amount of time assigned to "complete a task," there is a problem and you need to speak to me about it. Reasonable accommodations may be allowed. It is recommended that you do these tasks in order.

Task 1: Pretest
Completion time - 1/2 hour
Please complete the pretest BEFORE attempting ANY assignments. Please relax this
will only test what you know at this point in time. You are graded for doing it regardless of your score.
Task 2: Antigone time to complete task - 2 hours
Antigone: Read Scene 2 pages 1032 - 1040 from Language from Literature - Blue also please watch (the YouTube video is optional): Video Summary
Write one ABC paragraph: Was Antigone right to sprinkle her brother with dirt? Be sure to back up your thesis with evidence from the text.
Task 3: Terminology time to complete task - 1 hour
The following are used in playwriting. Define each. As you are reading “Romeo and Juliet” provide an example of each. Be sure to give the Act, Scene, and quote (or description) as part of your example.

Completion Time - 2 hours
Read “The Grieving Never Ends” by Roxanne Roberts. Write an ABC essay on suicide and how it affects those that remain. Be sure to use evidence from the article.
Task 6: Essay
Completion time - 3 hours
Essay must be typed and submitted using Google Docs, unless you receive other instructions.
You MUST DOUBLE-SPACE AND LEFT-JUSTIFY YOUR PAPER. You must complete the rubric handout and turn it in to have your essay graded. Essay must be at least 400 words and at least five paragraphs. You must include evidence from the text. Please note that the grading of your essay may take 24 hours or more. Please be sure to read Writing an Expository Essay for a complete understanding of what is involved in writing this type of essay.
Choose 1 essay topic (this will be your prompt):
Completion time - 1 hour
You must achieve at least 70% to pass the class.
Task 8: Contemporary Fiction
Completion time - 9 hours
Read either The Fault in Our Stars or Summer of Swans or another book on love/fate (must be with the permission of the teacher and you must provide the book). A 200 word essay or multimedia project with presentation.
Task 9: Project
Completion time - 2 hours
Prepare a presentation in which you discuss love and fate or the individual vs. society across the pieces you have studied.
You may also prepare a presentation on a topic that interests you with prior permission from your teacher.
Additional tasks may be assigned at teacher discretion.

- The penalty of death goes unused throughout the play. Not until the suicides of the final act does the feud end. Is the threat of death a good deterrent in preventing acts of violence? Support your answer with the text.
- The prince decrees at the end of the play that some people will be pardoned and others will be punished. Who is at fault for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? Choose the character that you think is most responsible for the deaths of these lovers. Support your answer with the text.
- Many people question how “true” Romeo’s love for Juliet really is because of his infatuation with Rosaline at the start of the play. Do you think Romeo truly loves Juliet? Why or why not? Use examples from the play to support your answer.
